Every life has a story worth telling… sometimes more than one. Let’s find yours and share it with the world.
Whether you’re an entrepreneur or founder reflecting on building an airline, a tour guide who’s met every Gorilla in Uganda, or simply someone with a legacy to leave behind, I help translate the moments that define you into a memoir that will live forever.
With 20 years of writing and editorial experience behind me, and as a published author of over 40 books, including my own travel memoirs, I’ve partnered with some extraordinary individuals across the world to dig up the details that only reveal themselves with time and conversation.
Whether we work in person or virtually, what we're building together is trust. And from that, a book that tells your full, emotionally resonant story.
If you’re ready to start writing your memoir and you’re looking for a passionate collaborator to bring your story to life, I invite you to reach out — I take on a limited number of these involved projects each year.
Want to learn more? Here’s how my memoir ghostwriting and publishing process works… from first interview to final proof:
Phase One: What's Your Story
Our journey starts by asking the simple question: Why do you want to tell this story… and why now?
From our very first conversation, I'll draw out the details that matter in your world — the people who shaped you, the moments that cracked you open, and the legacy you want to leave in your own words. There’s no need to show up with a fully-formed narrative or a clear beginning. Finding that is exactly what I'm here for.
Phase Two: The Macro Outline
Structure is everything; especially in memoir.
Before a single draft page is written, I build what I call a macro outline.
This macro outline includes:
- Primary storylines and major turning points
- Emotional beats and pacing
- Thematic throughlines
- Narrative arcs and structure (linear, fragmented, braided, etc.)
This is where my years as a novelist and copy editor come in. That work trained me to see a manuscript at every level simultaneously, from the sentence structure to the overall arc — and to spot where a story might be falling flat.
You'll review this document and tell me what feels right… and what doesn't. If we need another round of conversations to go deeper on certain chapters or clarify the sequencing, we do that here.
Phase Three: The Chapter Outline
Once you’ve approved the macro structure, I get to work creating a comprehensive chapter-by-chapter outline. This is the final roadmap before I start the draft. Every chapter must have a clear narrative drive and purpose.
Some clients tell me this outline alone helped them visualise their story more clearly than ever before.
Phase Four: Drafting the Book
When we move into drafting, I switch to asynchronous collaboration. Here’s how that works:
- I write 1–3 chapters per week and send them to you via email/Google Drive
- You leave feedback for me directly in the shared document
- Every week, I send specific questions to help us fill any gaps in the narrative
Prefer voice memos? Great. Whatever is easier for you. My goal is to keep you in reflection mode, while keeping myself in the writing flow.
While I’m always happy to attend meetings if needed, I find this more relaxed approach allows for deeper creative work in your own time, and more thoughtful input.
Phase Five: Revisions and Refinement
Once the first full draft is complete, we often invite early readers to offer feedback if you wish. These could be friends or family members. This is entirely optional. Based on any insights and our own discussions, I’ll develop a rewrite plan.
Then comes the refinement process:
- Two full rounds of revisions
- A line edit to ensure polish and clarity
- A proofread for grammar and consistency
Phase Six: Setting You Up for Success
Once your memoir is complete, I’ll help you determine the best path forward — whether that’s querying agents for a traditional deal or taking full ownership with a high-quality self-publishing strategy. (I also offer publishing to Amazon).
I work closely with a curated network of trusted partners, from book designers to marketing experts, and I’m happy to make warm introductions when possible based on your goals.
