He will wait literal centuries. He will fight every demon in three realms and then stand in the rain outside your window looking tragic about it. There's no halfhearted affection here... it's all or nothing, and us readers are very much here for all.

They're ancient, experienced, and still completely lost around you

He is thousands of years old. He's witnessed the fall of empires and defeated darkness itself. And yet... your laugh makes him forget how to speak. There's a reason we never get tired of this. Power meeting vulnerability is irresistible, and when the most formidable being in the supernatural world is brought to his knees by feelings? Chef's kiss.

They offer an escape from the ordinary

Real life is mortgage rates and dentist appointments and feeding the dog at 5pm sharp. Paranormal romance offers moonlit castles, secret magical worlds, and the very real possibility that the brooding stranger in the coffee shop is actually an immortal fae prince with complicated feelings. It's escapism at its most delicious... and there's absolutely nothing wrong with that.

The truth is, paranormal romance heroes aren't just fantasy. They're the ultimate amplification of everything we already want: devotion, intensity, protection, and a love story big enough to shake the foundations of the universe.
