It's that time of year in the Netherlands, when the ducks and sheep are all making babies and the cherry blossom rains down on it all like a wedding ceremony for Spring.
With a blue sky and a rare afternoon of sunshine, this romance writer and her book boyfriend went to Amsterdam Bos yesterday.
It was pretty packed to be honest. I think everyone had the same ideas about sitting on the petal-strewn grass and posing for photos reading a good book .
Not that you can concentrate for long with a million people milling around and all the little doggies frolicking like lambs. Idyllic for all creatures great and small.
I have yet to write a scene in a book that stars this natural spectacular, but I think that's going to change — it's just too frickin' pretty! I mean, look at it. Which modern book boyfriend wouldn't steal a kiss amongst nature's confetti, or get ideas in his head about dropping to one knee?
I took a book, and I did manage to read for a bit. Captain Corelli's Mandolin was my companion, while my boyf kept the dog out of people's picnic baskets. She loves to steal a cheese sandwich.
Well, any sandwich really.
Anything edible, she'll take, and leave her humans to apologise.
Where's your favourite place to visit when Spring arrives? And what's your next read under a tree, or with a gorgeous view? I need some more titles for my Kindle, and I also need to get onto writing a scene in the cherry blossoms. Hmm, maybe a murder? That would shake things up.
Nah, I'll stick to romance I think. Why tarnish the start of a glorious new season? xx
