TikTok won! I finally joined with an author account.
Look at me on 77 followers after.... well, after about a week and a half.
It's not exactly a raging fire of engagement just yet, but I thought it was time to join the party and it's actually a lot of fun engaging with all the lovely book-lovers out there. Like making a whole new bunch of online friends who support each other.
The TikTok influencers have all kinds of advice, like when to post, whether to follow trends or not, how many times a day to upload stuff, whether to repurpose content, which trending sounds you should use. Honestly, it's an education.
As if writers don't have enough work to do already, writing books!
But everyone knows books don't sell themselves.
So far I'm loving the #BookTok crowd. It feels like I've been welcomed into a warm and cosy house with a lot of likeminded souls who love to read and sometimes write.
I'm noticing some of my posts get more enthusiasm than others (namely those with my face on them as opposed to stock images, which makes sense I guess), but it's all a learning curve.
I'm gonna keep posting fun stuff about being an "author" as well as sending out cute quotes from my books. And who knows, let's check back in in a few months and see where we're at.
I spent quite a number of years not really shouting about my work as an author. Maybe that's part of being British and being less willing to blow my own trumpet, but that kinda thinking doesn't get us anywhere, now does it?
See you on TikTok, friends. Find me @authorbeckywicks.
